Mrs.Laila Hassan

Laila Hassan joined Algebra Ventures in 2021 as a General Partner, where she contributed to the launch of the firm’s second fund. Since then, she has been actively investing in African startups across various sectors, including fintech and mobility.

She also serves as a Venture Partner at 500 Global, where she oversees the MENA-focused 500 Falcons fund. She initially joined the firm in 2019 to lead follow-on investment strategy and enhance portfolio data analytics capabilities.

Throughout her career, she has worked with several regional venture capital firms, including Middle East Venture Partners and Algebra Ventures, where she led multiple investment transactions and supported portfolio companies. She has also advised startups, venture capital firms, and family offices on investments and operational matters.

Earlier in her career, she gained experience in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in London, as well as in private equity at Qalaa Holdings in Cairo.

Laila holds an MBA from London Business School, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Law from the American University in Cairo and Cairo University
